Today I just installed the wordpress automatically update plugin to upgrade my wordpress from version 2.1 to the latest version 2.2.3 . I think only around 15 minutes I successfully upgraded my Online Wealth Secrets blog.

Even though I still found a few bugs on this plugin but the objective to upgrade to the latest version can be accomplished easily. So I think this is great wordpress plugin that every blogger should have install if their have not much time to upgrade it manually.

But if you use cpanel fantastico to install your blog, you can just upgrade to the latest version using the upgrade link provided by Fantastico once they released it.

As we know that wordpress regularly released their new version, so by having this plugin, the lazy people like me can upgrade with latest version in a few minutes only without thinking on any technical things on upgrade the its.

So thanks very much to the developer of this great plugin.

Here is what basically WPAU does;

1. Backs up the files and makes available a link to download it.
2. Backs up the database and makes available a link to download it.
3. Downloads the latest files from http://wordpress.org/latest.zip and unzips it.
4. Puts the site in maintenance mode.
5. De-activates all active plugins and remembers it.
6. Upgrades wordpress files.
7. Gives you a link that will open in a new window to upgrade installation.
8. Re-activates the plugins.

The plugin can also can be run in a automated mode where in you do not have to click on any links to go to the next step.
